Meet our Animals

Angelica

Angelica is a 4 year old East Friesian x Icelandic cross breed ewe.  We brought her into our flock because she had the most beautiful udder for hand milking with teats as big as a cow's.  Her milk yield was moderate, not as much as a pure east friesian.  At peak she would give about 1.5 quarts per milking. She has a loving, trusting temperament and is one of the first ewes to come to scratches.  She is a great mom who gave birth to twins as a , as a 2 year old in 2021, and triplets  in Mach 2022 and 2023.  Unfortunately Angelica  suffered a case of mastitis  and now only one half of her udder produces milk.  She still raised thriving triplets with only half her udder working.  We have retained several of her daughters and love this sheep's genetics.  She is a capable mom who can be a great breeder in the future to build up a top quality flock.  Please reach out if you have an interest in purchasing Angelica.

Snowball

Snowball is our oldest ewe, born in 2014, an East Friesian x Lacaune cross.  She is a great mama to triplets every year and overly generous letting any lamb nurse from her.  She is our most docile ewe who loves backrubs.  Her udder is amazingly high and well attached for a mature lady with a yield of nearly a half gallon per milking.  Her son, Alder, is father to several of our  2021 lambs.  Snowball is shown here with her daughter, Marigold, and my daughter, Flora.  Snowball retiered from breeding in 2023 and is now our pet ewe.

The Layers

We raise a flock of mixed breed laying hens on pasture.  A few Silkies in the flock reliably go broody in spring and summer. We give them our best colored, biggest eggs and they raise up a motley crew of barnyard mix chicks.   Hen's eggs are for sale in all but the darkest days of winter, when the hen's take couple months off their laying duties.

Squeak

Squeak is a Muscovy duck hen who flew over Wee Family Farm, thought it looked like a nice place, moved in, and built a nest for herself here.  She raised up 16 ducklings and is a bit of a pest in the garden.  Squeak likes to sneak into the farmhouse.

Columbine

Columbine, is our boss ewe.  She is a big, confident, lady.  Columbine grows the best fleece in the flock with 6 - 7 inches of soft lustrous locks each year.  Her wool shows beautifully mottled browns and grays.  Her udder had excellent conformation with very large down facing teats and she is quick to milk out with a very respectable yield.  She gave us twins, one piebald and one dark in 2020 and 2021 and triplets in 2022 and 2023.  Her lambs grow up fast to be big and stout like their mama. Her sons were in our ram flock the last two years. Columbine is pictured here with Snowball.
